Dr Veronica Roberts

Veronica qualified from the University of Cambridge in 2003 having previously graduated from the University of Oxford. She is a European and RCVS Recognised Specialist in Equine Internal Medicine and has experience of working in a number of referral and university hospitals in the UK and Europe.

Veronica’s headshaking research is world-leading and has won several awards. She was awarded a PhD by publication into trigeminal-mediated headshaking. She frequently presents at international conferences and consults on headshaking cases from all over the world. She has published several peer-reviewed papers as well as numerous book chapters and magazine articles. Her work has led to the use of EquiPENS™ treatment for trigeminal-mediated headshakers. This has featured in BBC Two’s ‘Trust me I’m a Vet’.

She is a passionate educator and loves teaching equine medicine to veterinary students. She feels very fortunate that the students have voted her as the winner of many University teaching awards.

In 2020 Veronica was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons for Meritorious Contributions to Clinical Practice.

Veronica’s passion for horses goes beyond her veterinary work. She has also competed at Advanced Medium in dressage and trained her own horses
